| The EFL Cup round of 16 is already upon us, with the highly anticipated clash between Liverpool and Chelsea. There are, after all, more important trophies that clubs in England have their sights set on. However, this currently applies primarily to the home team. Chelsea have no international matches this season. As a result, they will play fewer games than their opponents, and their focus is likely somewhat more on the silverware that the EFL Cup could bring. Against this backdrop, we coild expect a more motivated visiting team, while Liverpool may initially have one or two regular starters on the bench due to management of the players. The teams last met in the Premier League in May of this year. That match also took place on Merseyside and ended in a 1-1 draw. Thanks to the draw, Chelsea are now unbeaten in three meetings between the two sides. |
